Jennifer Lopez Talks About Marriage to Anthony

Newly single mother of two, Jennifer Lopez finally opens up about her divorce from Marc Anthony, saying “Sometimes it doesn’t work… and that’s sad.”

The “American Idol” host appears on the September cover of Vanity Fair and reveals during an interview that both she and Anthony wanted their seven-year marriage to last longer.

Lopez explains her decision to separate from Anthony, and reveals that she felt as though her marriage was robbing her of her identity. She told Vanity Fair, “Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves.”

Married three times previously, Lopez also divulged that the divorce was the hardest decision she has ever made.

“To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself- if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me.”

Lopez infers that the failed marriage was Anthony’s fault, “I wasn’t working, it was mainly about him. Then we got pregnant. Then it became about the kids. And then I started working again,” Lopez said.

Mother to Max and Emme, Lopez has recently reignited her career by hosting the tenth season of “American Idol” and releasing her hit single “On The Floor.”

Many critics have speculated that the Lopez and Anthony marriage failed due to Anthony’s envy of J. Lo’s red-hot career.

About Anthony, Lopez says she will forever respect him as a singer and performer, and reflects on their musical work together as magical.

“He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children,” Lopez said.

Despite being married three times, Lopez says she has not given up on romance, “I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love… It’s still my biggest dream,” she told the magazine.

Feeling empowered and confident, the singer says she will do “the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person” and embraces new challenges her newly-found singlehood will present.
