Jennifer Lopez's 24-year-old boyfriend, Casper Smart, has hit back at claims that their relationship is not age appropriate through a post on Twitter.

Smart, a talented back up dancer, has received intense media scrutiny ever since he began dating Jennifer Lopez, 42, and insists that age is just a number.

"Age, status, n opinions of others are irrelevant. Our hearts are endless and our souls infinite...To be continued," Casper tweeted.

"Our ages are mere reminders of the hours logged on this earth and the precious time remaining...To be continued," he wrote.

"We should all honor our time here by indulging our passion and dreams. So, close your ears and open your hearts; Love and be happy!" he later added.

Lopez, who retweeted Casper's posts, is still in the process of divorcing the father of her 3-year-old twins, singer Marc Anthony.

Although there were reports of a bitter divorce battle between the American Idol judge and Anthony, the former couple appeared friendly and at one point holding hands at a promotional event on Wednesday, according to US Weekly Magazine.

While some speculated whether a reunion was in the works, sources confirm it's over and that Lopez is focused on her relationship with Smart, who has been dubbed “boy toy” by some media outlets.

"It's pretty serious ...They're together a lot. She's never been happier," a source told E! Online.

Lopez, who is believed to have split from Anthony in July, was struggling with her divorce and according to sources, she was able to move on after meeting Smart.

"When Jennifer got together with Casper, it changed everything ... He may be young, but he's a very sweet, nice guy," a source told US.

The couple was photographed spending Thanksgiving with Lopez's children, and according to sources they continue to spend more time with one another.
