Jeremy Lin Expected To Help Rebuild Brooklyn Nets Along with New Players; Team Roster for 2016-17 NBA Season

Brooklyn Nets underwent a total transformation this year and sealing a multi-year contract with Jeremy Lin was a part of it. The 27-year-old point guard is expected to rebuild the Nets along with the newly signed NBA players and coaching staff.

Rebuilding The Nets

According to SB Nation, Sean Marks, the new Nets general manager, promised in a press conference that he will rebuild the team by bringing change and expanding the staff. Five months after he assumed to the position, Marks has already achieved a portion of his vision with the newly hired people who presently comprise the Nets.

More than 30 new faces are now working together for the Nets. Aside from the newly signed NBA players, the team also got new trainers, performance experts and scouts. Moreover, long-time staff members were promoted while others were given new assignments. Some old personnel also opted to leave the team.

The Nets' coaching staff got the major makeover with no old personnel left. Kenny Atkinson is now serving as the head coach with Jacque Vaughn as the lead assistant coach. They are joined by Jordan Ott, Adam Harrington, Chris Fleming, Mike Batiste and Bret Brielmaier as assistant coaches.

The Nets is Expecting a Lot From Lin

Despite the potential of earning more money from other teams, Lin opted to ink a three-year $36-million contract with the Nets because of his desire to reunite with Atkinson, his former coach. Another main reason is the opportunity to lead a team as the starting point guard.

"I'm not shying away from that role at all," Lin told ESPN. "For me, being 27 now, that's something I wanted. It's a challenge I wanted to embrace, and I can't wait to do that.

On the other hand, the Nets also has a lot of expectations from Lin, which is why they decided to sign him. "The benefit of that basketball decision is there are some business opportunities," Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment CEO Brett Yormark revealed to The New York Post.

Yormark explained that the Nets could take advantage of Lin's popularity in China and other parts of the world. He also said that Lin could help them in establishing a solid fan base in Brooklyn and in boosting the Nets' merchandise sales as Lin is the top-20 jersey seller last year.
