'Jessica Jones' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Rachael Taylor Is Ready To Portray Hellcat

Actress Rachael Taylor, who plays Trish Walker, the titular character's best friend and foster sister in "Jessica Jones," is ready to bring Marvel's Hellcat to life in the series' forthcoming second season, should the superhero ever make its way to "Jessica Jones."

In an interview with Comic Book Resources and other members of the press, Taylor said, "I mean, I try not to get ahead of myself and think about it too much, because it's easy to get carried away and think about things."

"You don't want to count your eggs before they hatch, I guess, because we just found out about the second season today -- and this is my first show that's gone to a second season, so I'm super stoked," she revealed.

The actress also said that portraying Hellcat in the Netflix series would be "amazing" and "a privilege." "And to take it that one step further is something that, yeah, I'd love to get my teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character," she said.

In the Marvel comic books, Hellcat is a superhero whose powers include the ability to deflect mystical attacks, the ability to sense mystical phenomena, and the ability to summon her black-and-yellow costume at will. Hellcat is trained in martial arts and has retractable claws as well as hooks on her wrists.

In "Jessica Jones," Trish Walker has no superpowers of her own, but is trained in Krav Maga. She has also expressed an interest in heroics, as in the scene where Jessica (Krysten Ritter) asks her what else she could possibly want and she answers, "Well, to save the world, of course." This, according to Taylor, is a "very unusual thing" for someone to say, but explains that Trish has a deep yearning to set things straight in the way that Jessica, who possesses superpowers, could, if only the troubled heroine would work through her issues and use her powers to save the world.

In January, Netflix confirmed that it had renewed "Jessica Jones" for a second run. Season 2 is expected to air sometime this year.
