Jessica Simpson has reportedly sold the first photo of baby Maxwell Drew Johnson for $800,000, which is much less than some fans had anticipated.
People magazine secured the deal with the new mother to run exclusive photos of her first child and there was reportedly not much of a bidding war among tabloids, according to Women's Wear Daily.
Simpson, who is said to be worth millions, received a lot less money for she and fiancée Eric Johnson's daughter in contrast with her Hollywood counterparts.
In 2006, actress Angelina Jolie and fiancée Brad Pitt were reportedly paid at least $4.1 million by PEOPLE magazine for photos of their first child, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, and in 2007 received $2 million for photos of their adopted son Pax Jolie-Pitt.
In 2008, they received more than $11 million, the largest amount paid in U.S. history, for the first pictures of their twins, Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.
Other celebrities who have received more than $1 million for selling the rights to their baby's photos include actress Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren, singer Christina Aguilera and ex-husband Jordan Bratman, and singer Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
Simpson, 31, gave birth to baby Maxwell, who arrived weighing in at 9 lbs., 13 oz., on May 01 10 days after her expected due date and has been gushing ever since.
"I am so in love with baby Maxwell! I want to cry every time I look at her. Motherhood is by far the best thing I've ever experienced," Simpson recently tweeted.
The "With You" singer took to her website shortly after giving birth to express her and Johnson's excitement over their first child.
"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson. We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!" Simpson wrote on her website.
