Jessica Simpson has adopted a more healthy approach to food and exercise during her second pregnancy in a bid to keep her weight under control.
During her first pregnancy, the "Fashion Star" mentor enjoyed a more carefree lifestyle, including a diet consisting of macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with limited exercise. However, Simpson, 32, has since changed her ways, and it appears to be paying off.
"She thinks about what she puts in her body now. She's not starving herself, but she's eating sensibly," a friend of Simpson's told In Touch magazine.
Simpson has swapped high-fat foods for low-calorie meals such as green eggs (eggs and spinach) for breakfast, which is said to be the singer's "new favorite."
"She loves it," the friend said before revealing that Simpson regularly works out with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.
"[She] just likes feeling good and when she exercises regularly, she feels great," the insider explained.
Simpson reportedly tipped the scales at 210 pounds during the peak of her first pregnancy, but she was able to reach her goal weight of 130 pounds after giving birth through a Weight Watchers program.
Fast food is not the only thing that Simpson has given up during her second pregnancy, as reports claim the engaged singer is no longer wearing heels to protect her feet.
Like many other pregnant celebrities, Simpson had previously sacrificed personal comfort for the sake of fashion during her pregnancy. Throughout her first pregnancy Simpson was often photographed wearing towering heels, but it appears that she has had a change of heart this time around.
"Jessica is no longer wearing heels," a source told Us magazine. "Her feet are swollen and hurt, and high heels hurt her back."
Simpson, who is said to be expecting a baby boy with fiance Eric Johnson, was advised by doctors to stop wearing heels and has since started wearing flats.
"Practicing walking in flats around my house," Simpson tweeted on March 29.
