Jessica Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey reportedly sent her a gift after learning that she had given birth to a baby girl on Monday.

"A large basket of pink and white cookies were delivered to Jessica's hospital room at Cedars-Sinai earlier from Nick and Vanessa. The basket was delivered by Cookies By Design and included seven huge cookies with adorable baby girl decorations," a source told Hollywood Life.

Simpson and Lachey were married for three years before they officially divorced in 2006, and the pair has both since moved on, but reportedly maintain a friendship since.

The 31-year-old delivered Maxwell Drew Johnson, whose middle name came courtesy of Jessica's mom Tina Simpson, and the baby arrived weighing in at 9 lbs., 13 oz.

"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson. We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!" Simpson wrote on her website.

It is unclear whether Lachey, whose wife Vanessa Minnillo is due to give birth later this year, has met Simpson and her fiancée Eric Johnson's new baby, although they are said to have appreciated the gift.

Simpson's mother Tina Simpson is understandably smitten with baby Maxwell, saying that her granddaughter "is so precious and peaceful," according to Us Magazine.

Sister Ashlee Simpson, who has a 3-year-old son Bronx Mowgli Wentz, is also in awe of Simpson's baby.

"Bronx and I are in love with Maxwell already!" Ashlee told People.

Baby Maxwell was reportedly born 10 days after her expected due date, although it is unknown whether Simpson had to be induced.

Simpson and Johnson, 32, put off their November 11 wedding until after the birth of baby Maxwell and some fans suspect that the couple may walk down the aisle before the end of the year.
