Jessica Simpson, the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers, has been very open about her weight struggles following the recent birth of her child.
Simpson, 32, welcomed Maxwell Drew, her daughter with NFL star Eric Johnson four months ago on May 1. As one of today's biggest stars, Simpson admitted that she has not gotten back into her pre-baby body as fast as other celebrity moms.
"I'm not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel," she said in a recent interview with USA Today. "I'm just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé, and herself."
Simpson explained that while pregnant, she was "constantly hungry" and did not contain her "big appetite."
"I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant, and I wanted to enjoy it," the new mother told USA Today.
The Texas native noted that macaroni and cheese was her favorite dish while pregnant with Maxwell, and confessed that she had did not consider the consequences.
"I didn't realize it didn't all come off with the baby," said Simpson of the over 170 pounds she gained while pregnant.
Simpson has signed a $14 million deal with Weight Watchers to help her lose the weight as a spokesperson, and the work has been paying off.
"I've lost weight every single week," the singer told USA Today.
Her first commercial for Weight Watchers since she began the calorie-counting program is set to air next week and will debut a thinner Simpson. Even with the weight loss regime though, the new mom said she still indulges her sweet tooth.
"I don't believe in depriving myself," said Simpson. "I'm a woman who wants her chocolate. I allot myself a fun-size [bag of] M&M's. I eat one of those, and my craving is satisfied. I don't need a whole bag of M&M's."
In addition to "eating less of everything," Simpson has been working out with personal trainer Harley Pasternak, but not without struggle.
"My boobs are way too big to run at this point," admitted the star. "I'm just walking. We take Maxwell out a lot."
Noting her relationship with her fiancé, Simpson said Johnson offers her support- without pressure.
"The fact that he loves me the way I am right now- we're set," said the singer. "He knows I want to feel better in my skin."
Despite the obstacles, Simpson is determined to reveal a thinner body in the coming weeks. She is scheduled to appear on Katie Couric's new talk show on Sept. 10.
