Jimmy Butler News: Bulls' Leading Scorer Takes Blame for Losses, Says He's Been 'Worried About Offense Too Much'

If Chicago wants to regain their composure going into the second round, then they better dispose of the Bucks in Game 6 tomorrow. Unfortunately, that won't be that easy, given that it will be played on Milwaukee's home court.

However, for first-time All Star Jimmy Butler, Chicago's losses can also be blamed on him.

During the Bucks' Game 5 win over the Bulls, Butler had 20 points all right, but it came in a dismal 5 out of 21 shooting, including just 1 out of 7 in the fourth quarter. When asked about his performance and his team's inability to close out the series in two consecutive games, Butler took the blame.

"I'm supposed to be the prime-time defensive guy, and I haven't been guarding a soul," Butler said in an interview after the loss. "I've been worried about offense too much, and I need to change that quickly or it's going to be my fault."

Meanwhile, the Bulls' primary ball handler and secondary scorer Derrick Rose has not been doing well the past two games, averaging only 13 points, including an anemic 5-20 field goal percentage in Game 5.

The only consistent offensive presence in Chicago all season has been Pau Gasol who scored 25 points and grabbed 10 boards. But without a premier defender in the wings guarding Michael Carter-Williams, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Khris Middleton.

Game 6 will once again be a homecoming for Butler, who played for Marquette in college where he developed as an NBA first round pick prospect.
