Jimmy Kimmel is engaged to his girlfriend Molly McNearney, a fellow comedienne and the head writer for his late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" The funnyman had been dating McNearney for three years before he popped the question.
Jimmy Kimmel became engaged to McNearney while on vacation with her to South Africa's Kruger National Forest, his representative revealed to People magazine. Although the comedian is now set to be married, no date has currently been announced for the pair to be wed.
Kimmel and McNearney first met when she became a writer on his late night show in 2006. At the time, he was dating well-known comedienne Sarah Silverman, but when they broke up in 2009 after five years of dating, an opportunity arose.
"After Jimmy and Sarah broke up, Molly and Jimmy found themselves single, and they clicked," a source previously told People. "They're really happy together."
That happiness turned into a proposal, and although it will be 34-year-old McNearney's first time as a wife, it will be 44-year-old Kimmel's second time as a husband. He was first married to Gina Maddy in 1988, and they have two children together. They divorced in 2002.
The news of wedding bells isn't exclusive to Kimmel and McNearney, though. Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux recently announced their engagement as well.
"Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage," the actor's representative confirmed with People magazine on Sunday.
The couple has been dating for over a year after co-starring together on the film "Wanderlust," directed by David Wain.
Since the budding of their relationship in May 2011, the couple has been spotted in various parts of the world, holding hands and laughing and looking very much in love.
Though Kimmel hasn't been seen publicly with his new fiancée yet, perhaps he will be at 64th annual Emmy Awards. He is set to host the primetime show Sept. 23.
