A collection of jokes by Pastor Joel Osteen published in a book earlier this year has not been authorized by Lakewood Church in Texas, a spokeswoman for Joel Osteen Ministries confirmed.

"This is not our book," Andrea Davis shared in a short statement with The Christian Post on Tuesday, referring to the Joel Osteen Jokes - Collection of Joel Osteen's Funniest Short, Clean Jokes book which is available on Amazon and Kindle.

The book says that it offers a "hilarious collection" of such jokes. The Houston Chronicle included one example in an article on Monday:

"I heard about this 85-year-old woman. She went on a blind date with a 92-year-old man. She came home very frustrated and her daughter said, 'Mom, what's wrong?' She said, 'I had to slap him three times.' The daughter said, 'You mean he tried to get fresh?' She said, 'No, I thought he was dead.'"

There are apparently a number of Osteen works that get published without proper permission, Davis further shared with The Chronicle, and the megachurch is reviewing such books to see if they are infringing on any copyrights.

Osteen, one of the most popular pastors in America, has written a number of succesful books that have become national bestsellers and printed millions of copies worldwide, including Your Best Life Now and Become A Better You.

His latest release, I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life, offers a series of affirmations to help individuals be successful in their everyday lives.

"I think it's all based on the Bible, but I think it's principles that help you to have a good self-image and feel right about yourself, and I think God wants us to feel right about ourselves," Osteen said in a November 2012 interview with CP.

"He wants us to feel valuable. Every person is a masterpiece, so I think when you get up in the morning and declare His goodness, His favor, His faithfulness, it makes a difference in how you feel and how your day is going to go."
