John Mayer debuted a new hairstyle on Saturday, just days after his rumored relationship with Katy Perry reportedly came to an end.

The 34-year-old traded his shoulder-length locks for a much shorter and neater new look after getting a haircut at the Sally Hershberger salon in L.A. on Friday.

Mayer was supporting actress Mindy Kaling, who was celebrating the launch of her new show "The Mindy Project" at the SkyBar at the Mondrian in West Hollywood, according to E! Online.

Perry, 27, and Mayer had reportedly been dating for at least one month before the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer allegedly broke it off.

"She's really upset about it," a source allegedly told Us Weekly with another source claiming that Perry "is making it seem like it wasn't serious with John, but she is hurt."

Reps for both singers never confirmed their short lived romance, although various photographs showed the pair on several dates over a number of weeks.

Mayer, an occasional philanthropist and singer, has been linked to various A-listers including Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson - both of whom he publicly insulted after breaking up with them. He also dated country music star Taylor Swift, who released "Dear John" after their break up, a song about a man mistreating his girlfriend.

Perry, who finalized her divorce from Russell Brand in February, reportedly dated Mayer briefly in 2009. Fans took to social networking sites when reports of her and Mayer began swirling, and many expressed concern that her new found romance would end in tears due to Mayer's reputation.

Mayer appears to be unfazed by his reported break-up with Perry, as the singer appeared to be in good spirits during the event on Saturday. Mayer allegedly mingled with Kaling's "The Office" costars, including B.J. Novak.
