"Two and a Half Men" star John Cryer has suffered scrapes and bruises after falling from his bike during a triathlon in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The 47-year-old actor was competing in the 26th Annual Nautical Malibu Triathlon as a part of the Stand Up to Cancer organization. Cryer fell off of his bike during the 18-mile ride and although he did not break any bones he was unable to finish the race as medics rushed to help.
"You know how cyclists wear the leotard that offers zero protection? I used that to break my fall," Cryer explained to TMZ after the accident. "I've left a lot of my skin on the Pacific Coast Highway."
Cryer recounted the moment before the crash, saying the only thought in his mind was, "Not the face!"
"Apparently I'm not a pro cyclist… I decided to get super-aggressive and I was shooting downhill and most of the time you coast going downhill," explained the actor, according to TMZ.
"The wheel starts wobbling and I'm thinking, 'No problem, I'll just correct it with my elbows.' Oops, and I overcorrected and absolutely just ate it."
It was extremely fortunate that Cryer was wearing a helmet during the race, and the protective gear was cracked by the time the actor had "skidded probably 15 feet on my skin."
Then, making matters worse, Cryer received a parking ticket after visiting the doctor's office.
"Interestingly I found the hardest thing to do when you have torn the skin off your shoulder and your leg is reach for the parking ticket at the doctor's office," said the actor, according to TMZ.
More than 3,350 participants swam, biked, and ran in the Malibu, Calif. triathlon. The event saw over $1.17 million raised for Children's Hospital Los Angles Pediatric Cancer Research Program.
Cryer was not the only celebrity competing in the race; James Marsden, Rainn Wilson, Alison Sweeny, John Hopkins, and Jillian Michaels were also participants.
"Two and a Half Men" also stars Ashton Kutcher. The 10th season of the television series begins on Sept. 27 on NBC.
