Although Chris Brown has been keeping out of trouble lately, a judge ordered on Thursday that the singer remain under supervised probation and complete the terms of his sentence for assaulting his ex girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009.

At a brief hearing, Brown's attorney Mark Geragos asked that his client's term on supervised probation be put to an end based on his good behavior. But Superior Court Judge George Lomeli sided with prosecutors that despite the Grammy nominated singer curbing his anger, he should continue reporting to a probation officer in his hometown state of Virginia, MSN reported.

Lomeli added that he didn't find it unreasonable for Brown to remain under supervision and complete more of his community service hours.

The R&B crooner did not appear for the hearing.

Brown, 22, has since made a comeback from the domestic abuse case with singer Rihanna. Both artists are set to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Brown's hit album, "F.A.M.E." is nominated for three Grammys, including best R&B album.

Brown withdrew from several public appearances, including the 2009 Grammy Awards after news broke that the singer had assaulted Rihanna at a pre-Grammy party that year. The pair was also scheduled to perform together at the award show.

Geragos' request came after his client's probation officer wrote in a report that Brown has been honest with officers and passed all of his required drug tests. The singer "has made great strides" while under probation supervision, Brown's probation officer wrote.

The reformed singer, who was ordered to serve five years on probation, has completed half of the six months of roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and other manual labor he was ordered to do, his probation officer added.

Brown has also reportedly completed anger management and domestic violence counseling. Last year, another judge relaxed a restraining order that barred Brown and Rihanna from being in contact with each other or getting too close in proximity at industry events.

Judge Lomeli scheduled another progress hearing for July 10, MSN reported.
