Justice minister claims Amal Clooney only gets high-profile cases because of her husband George

Justice Minister Edward Faulks said that Amal Clooney should thank her husband for her recent career boost. According to the justice minister, the 37-year-old lawyer only gets high-profile cases because she is married to George.

"Everyone wants her because she's married to George Clooney; and by employing her they'll give publicity to their case," Faulks said at the book launch of his brother in London, according to the Daily Mail UK. "I mean, look at Cherie Blair — being married to Tony Blair didn't do her career any harm," he added.

Mrs. Clooney specializes in human rights, public international law, and international criminal law at Doughty Street Chambers. The human rights attorney recently has been handling a number of big cases — including the defense of Mohamed Nasheed, Maldives' ousted president, who is accused of terrorism charges.

According to the editor of Legal Cheek, Jonathan Ames, there are more lawyers out there that have more impressive records than Amal Clooney. But since she's married to the Hollywood superstar, George Clooney, some people overlook her previous credentials.

"Amal clearly had a career before she married George last year," the editor finally said.
