Justin Bieber in Car Accident After Paparazzi Chase

Justin Bieber was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, reports claim.

The pop singer, 20, was reportedly being transported by a black Escalade in Beverly Hills during a paparazzi chase when a BMW suddenly crashed into it. Bieber, who was not injured in the accident, reportedly got out of the SUV after the incident and was immediately picked up by another vehicle which quickly left the scene, TMZ.com reported.

"No one was injured," Beverly Hills police Sgt. Robert Maycott told HollywoodLife.com.

"There was an SUV and another unknown vehicle involved. None of my officers saw Mr. Justin Bieber," he added.

The "Confident" singer was photographed covering his face while exiting the vehicle after the accident. Despite concerns about Bieber leaving the scene, a law enforcement expert confirmed that he acted lawfully after the accident.

"If he was passenger in a vehicle and he left the scene of a non-injury accident, then there's no criminal behavior on Mr. Bieber's part," Beverly Hills police Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said. "He has no obligation to stay there."

The accident came one day after Bieber enjoyed a fairly relaxed and drama-free day at the Los Angeles Zoo with his on-again girlfriend Selena Gomez.

The pair reportedly spent several hours having a private tour of the zoo and even took the time to pose for fan photos, according to Genie Vasels, vice president for Institutional Advancement of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.

"They arrived around 2 p.m. The occasion was Justin's grandparents were visiting from Toronto and he wanted to do something nice for them," Vasels told E! News.

"So he brought them and Selena, two bodyguards and his assistant to the L.A. Zoo," she revealed.

The pair wore matching jeans, however, Gomez opted to pair the look with a white cut-off shirt and the "Confident" singer wore a long-sleeved black shirt. They reportedly saw elephants, gorillas and orangutans among other animals during their visit.

"They were very affectionate with each other and they held hands throughout the day," Vasels said.
