At Sunday’s VMA’s Selena Gomez was interviewing him when he teased her with his pet snake “Johnson.”

“I have a snake”, Bieber said to the pre-show host.

"Stop, I know!" Gomez said squeamishly. Selena still tried to be professional while he was scaring her. She backed up from Bieber and asked the snake’s name.

“Johnson”, he said smiling.

She managed to change the awkward subject, and asked him if he was feeling nervous: “Alright, so now you're up for Best Male Video -- against Eminem [and] Bruno Mars. Do you feel a little nervous?"

In his response, Bieber expressed how excited he was to be among so many other great people in his category.

“I’m just excited to be in a category with such amazing people. I’m just happy to be here.”

The 17-year-old singing sensation won the Best Male Video for “U Smile” for which he gave thanks to his Lord, Jesus Christ and God.

"I just want to say thank you so much, not only to God but to Jesus," Bieber said after receiving the award.

And he continued his gratitude: “He’s really blessed me. He’s put me in this position. So I want to say thank you so much.”

“God and Jesus” even became Trending Topics on Twitter after his words; also generating a debate about the difference between the two.

Justin Bieber did not forget to thank all the other nominees and said that “they were amazing.”

“I'm a true fan of all of them, so I want to share this award with all them. You guys are amazing.”

The award marked two Moonmen Awards in two years for the Canadian singer, who won Best New Artist for “Baby” at the 2010 VMAs.
