Justin Bieber fans have been rattled after a rumor spread that the singer was stabbed this week.

Facebook scammers took to the social media site Sunday, posting: "Justin Bieber stabbed by a crazed fan outside a NYC nightclub." The post included an image of a male with his back severely wounded.

Once clicked, the image redirected users to a survey page which benefitted the scammers.

The 18-year-old "Boyfriend" singer has legions of dedicated fans, including a Twitter account solely dedicated to Bieber.

"I refuse to die before I meet Justin Bieber," posted @Biebzy, the account for Justin Bieber fans. "Living life without catching a glimpse of my boy is a life wasted."

As a result of his obsessive followers, the rumor that Bieber had been stabbed by a "crazed fan" was believable. The scam shook Bieber enthusiasts, who took to Twitter to vent their frustrations over the scare.

"I can't believe people started a rumor that Justin Bieber got stabbed with gruesome pic of someone… with their back slashed," posted Manwigs.

"Okay okay Justin Bieber being stabbed is a terrible lie," wrote DaJuan, relived. "Happy 2 report this."

Another fan wrote, "Nearly had a heart attack when I heard Justin Bieber was stabbed PHEW."

Bieber is preparing to release his latest album, "Believe," which is due in stores June 19. The pop star discussed the album's content while in London Monday.

"There's a song about that girl that said she was gonna have my baby," Bieber reportedly told reporters, referring to Mariah Yeater.

"There are songs about things I'm going through," explained the singer, according several media publications in the U.K. "I wrote songs about different situations."

Last year, Yeater, 20, claimed that the then 17-year-old singer had unprotected sex with her and was the father of her infant son. Bieber and his representatives vehemently denied the allegations, which were later dropped.

In past interviews, Bieber has also confirmed that "Believe" will see collaborations with artists such as Drake, Ludacris, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West.

"We've recorded like 40 songs," said the Canada native, according to BBC. "Every song has a piece of me, it's hard to pick. I wrote almost all of them or co-wrote them."
