Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, has said that she is praying for her son amid the increased scrutiny and negative publicity he has been experiencing as of late.
Mallette, 38, has been promoting her film "Crescendo I" about the attempted abortion of Beethoven's mother recently, but she has also been vocal about supporting her pop star son.
"I pray for him," Mallette told E! News Wednesday. "I encourage him. I can't really speak to how he handles that part of his life."
Mallette and Bieber have both been vocal about their Christian faith throughout the years. However, Bieber has been the subject of numerous media headlines recently that have alleged violent behavior, issues with substance abuse and a mental breakdown.
While Bieber recently denied the negative media reports in an Us Weekly report, his mother has made it clear that letting her 19-year-old son grow up in the spotlight is no easy task.
"It's tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes that they need to make," Mallette said last month on "Today". "And I just have to trust that he's made good decisions in the past and hopefully he's learned from some of my mistakes."
Bieber recalled some of his mother's advice about making such mistakes when speaking to Billboard earlier this year.
"I don't have any regrets. I live and I learn. My mom says, 'You got to learn the hard way, don't you?' That's me," Bieber told Billboard. "I learn the hard way. But it's about how I pick myself up and be better and stronger."
Most recently, the singer defended himself against claims that he is not a good person.
"The biggest misconception about me is that I'm a bad person," Bieber told Us Weekly recently. "I get upset about that. I have a big heart. I want to be a good role model, but some people want me to fail."
