Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have tied the knot after five years of dating, it was confirmed Friday.
Timberlake, 31, married Biel, 30, in a private ceremony before family and friends in southern Italy, after days of media speculation following the couple's pre-wedding bash on Thursday.
"It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends," the couple told People in a statement.
Despite previous reports claiming that the couple had wed in August, the happy couple exchanged "I Do's" on Oct. 19 almost one year after Timberlake popped the question. The singer proposed in December during a trip to the mountains in Jackson, Wyoming, presenting Biel with a custom-made, vintage sparkler.
Reports claim that the on-and-off couple rekindled their romance after breaking up in 2011 because Timberlake finally agreed to discuss marriage.
"This was the basis for getting back together. When they reunited, they had a conversation about taking the next step," a separate source told Us magazine.
Timberlake, one of the founding members of renowned boy band *NSYNC, received marital advice from his former bandmate, Joey Fatone, who was reportedly among those who witnessed the couple's nuptials.
"Don't listen to all the BS. Especially in his situation, [Timberlake] and his fiancée – I haven't really talked to him about everything yet – but they're both in the limelight as well. It's tough for those celebrity couples. It's really hard," 35-year-old Fatone told Parade magazine.
Fatone married long-term girlfriend Kelly Baldwin in 2004, and the happy couple has two children, which some say give him the experience to offer Timberlake advice.
"My wife wasn't in the limelight, which made it easier. The key is to keep it happy, light, and fun. There can be a lot of drama, like when you have kids. And both of them have jobs where they are taken to different places. It's the communication that really needs to drive that relationship," Fatone added.
