K. Michelle of 'Love

August 8, 2012|4:36 pm

K. Michelle, singer-songwriter and star of "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta," is firing back at Toya Wright, the wife of music industry executive Mickey "Mephitz" Wright who recently defended her husband against claims that he abused the entertainer and threatened her son.

Wright recently appeared at a luncheon for the blog TalkingWithTami.com and spoke about the unfair picture that the singer K. Michelle is painting about her husband, who once worked with and dated the songwriter in the past.

"I promised myself that I was never going to talk about that because she's so irrelevant to me, but I'm going to say this: The picture she's painting of my husband, is not my husband," Wright said at the luncheon. "I've been knowing him for six years. I know several women that he has dated that never said anything about abuse."

Wright questioned K. Michelle's claims of abuse at the hands of her husband, asking where the proof was to validate such claims.

"If someone abused you like that, where's the proof? Where's the police report," Wright questioned. "Where's the pictures? Where's the messages that you claim that he sent threats to your kid and threatened to kill your child?"

While K. Michelle spoke about not wanting to get Memphitz in trouble because she once loved him after the alleged abuse took place, Wright also questioned those claims.

"These are things that, it doesn't matter about love, you'd be in jail if you threatened my kid," Wright said.

The music executive's wife, and former wife of rapper Lil Wayne, went on to allege that K. Michelle had issues in her personal life.

"K. Michelle needs to find her own story line and stop trying to stay relevant by gaining ratings from us, you know she is bonafide schizophrenic too," Wright claimed. "She doesn't even have custody of her son."

However, K. Michelle, born Kimberly Pate, took to her Twitter account to dispute Wright's claims.

"I better take these pills or schizophrenia before the government comes and takes my child that I just dropped off at school Monday," the singer tweeted sarcastically. "It's sad when people resort to trying to hurt others to keep a public image. God bless them."

While she went on to tweet about taking her son to school and tucking him in at night, the singer also tweeted about her fellow cast member and rapper Rasheeda Buckner supporting a friendship with Wright instead of her claims.

"Some people like to straddle the fence, come 2ur events, cry, and pray witcha, but soon as the media gets 2them, they get scared," the singer tweeted. "Take a stand."

Buckner took to her own social networking account to respond to the singer who said she did not have a backbone for siding with Wright.

"WHY does my opinion matter so much. U wanna down everybody but want sympathy," Buckner Tweeted. "I neva met 1 person in da streets or the industry who has ever said Nothing nice about u. U have no man and no friends #urselfdestructing!"

Still, K. Michelle insisted that she would not stop telling the story of her abuse no matter who was unhappy with it.

"I'm never gonna sit around and let my friends not know the truth," the singer tweeted. "I'll hurt you with the truth before I tell you a lie."

She also tweeted about God giving her a platform for a reason.

"If God gave u a platform to fight, He won't leave u without the proper weapons," she tweeted.
