Sports figures are known for celebrations, but in the era of social media, those celebrations turn into trends that can sweep the nation. The new fad of "Kaepernicking" is the latest to go viral.

The man responsible for this latest sport celebration craze is the National Football League's San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has led the 49ers to their second straight NFC championship game-a trip to the Super Bowl is on the line for the winner.

Kaepernicks' touchdown celebration, which shows him flexing his right arm and bending his head down to kiss his bicep, has exploded over the internet. Memes and pictures of people "Kaepernicking" have been flooding social media sites.

There has been a wave of fans posting pictures of themselves any place people go Kaepernicking, with some fans using their young children and pets as unknowing participants.

Reports show that the new fad, which looks very similar to last year's "Tebowing" craze, started shortly after Kaepernick took over the starting quarterback job from Alex Smith. The starting QB suffered a concussion midway through the season and hasn't started since.

The 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers at home on Saturday night 45-31 and were led to victory by Kaepernick, who set a quarterback rushing record during the game with 181 yards.

San Francisco will play at Atlanta- the Falcons were able to knock off the Seattle Seahawks with a field goal with 30 seconds left in the game- on Sunday.

The Falcons are 8-1 playing at home this season and are familiar with the 49ers, given that defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was the former head coach for San Francisco.

History will not be on their side, as the 49ers have lost their past five road playoff games and have not won on the road in the playoffs since beating the Bears back in 1989.
