Kate Middleton Baby Shower: Any Baby Shower Gifts Would Be 'Respectfully Returned,' Royal Expert Claims (VIDEO)

Kate Middleton's baby shower will reportedly not happen, despite persistent rumors over recent weeks that the Duchess' sister, Pippa Middleton, was planning a big baby shower for Kate and her husband Prince William.

There are just a few months left until Kate Middleton's due date, and many had thought that with Pippa being a party planner expert, they were sure to have a baby shower fit for a princess. However, latest news on the potential event indicate that no baby shower is in fact being planned.

According to an ABC News report on Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge will not have a baby shower. The network's so-called Royal expert, Victoria Arbiter, has rebutted all rumors suggesting Pippa was planning a big bash for her sister. According to Arbiter, baby showers are not as regular a thing in the U.K as in the United States, and there is also "added pressure that they are clearly very wealthy, and a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate. There's nothing they can't go out and buy themselves."

The royal expert has added that under royal policy any gifts given to the royal couple would be "respectfully returned."

Previously OK! magazine had reported that a source has told them that "it was her sister Pippa's idea," and that the queen was set to attend.

The source claimed, "While it's all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close. They bonded big time and really enjoy each other's company. Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it."

The OK! source added, "Pippa is in charge of decorations. Wine and beer will be available — not that Kate will be drinking alcohol, of course. There will certainly be none of the hard stuff."
