Kate Moss Admits Breakdown, 'Years of Crying' Over Johnny Depp

Following her launch into stardom, supermodel Kate Moss has admitted to suffering an emotional breakdown in a recent interview.

The legendary face of countless luxury brands recounted her iconic Calvin Klein photo shoot with Mark Wahlberg in 1992. The black-and-white photos featured Moss' then-teenage frail frame beside muscular Wahlberg, formerly known as Marky Mark.

As a result, the "heroin chic" look became popular, where models appeared gaunt and had dark circles under their eyes.

Moss admitted that participating in the shoot sent her over the edge at the time.

"I had a nervous breakdown when I was 17 or 18, when I had to go to work with Marky Mark and Herb Ritts," said Moss, now 38, while speaking to Vanity Fair.

"It didn't feel like me at all," she continued. "I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn't like it. I couldn't get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die."

The world-famous model continued to describe the challenges of her profession, including uncomfortable poses. At just 16-years-old, Moss felt "massive pressure to do what you have to do" and modeled topless for the first time.

"They were like, 'If you don't do it, then we're not going to book you again,'" recounted the British beauty speaking to the magazine. "So I'd lock myself in the toilet and cry and then come out and do it. I never felt very comfortable about it."

Moss also recalled her four-year relationship with actor Johnny Depp, as well as "years and years of crying" following their split.

The pair met when Moss was 20-years-old. During their romance, Depp once trashed a New York City hotel room after reportedly having a fight with Moss. Despite their turbulent relationship, Moss said Depp offered her unprecedented stability.

"There's nobody that's ever really been able to take care of me," said the model. "Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said… and that's what I missed when I left."

Over the years Moss has earned a reputation for being a party girl, including the 2005 cocaine scandal. However, today she is married to Jamie Hince and is busy raising her 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, Lila Grace.

"I don't really go to clubs anymore," Moss told Vanity Fair. "I'm actually quite settled."

Moss' interview with Vanity Fair will hit newsstands on Nov. 6.
