Actress Katherine Heigl could have been a top Hollywood star, but her "bad" attitude has prevented her from going as far as she should, according to a new report.

While the former "Grey's Anatomy" star has earned a postive reputation for building a mass fan base and grossing large dollars at the box office, it is her reputation off-screen that could be costing her a career, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"She can cost you time every single day of shooting," a source who worked with the actress on "Life as We Know It" said in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter. "Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day. Even getting her deal closed at Warners was hard. She hit that point of 'no.'"

The bad attitude started early on according to the source, with Heigl's mother Nancy, who is also the actress' manager. Heigl began her career as a model when she was just a young girl. According to a source who worked with Heigl and her mother at the time, the mother was constantly complaining.

"She's really determined to put everything behind her," says this insider. "The only way to do that is to go to work in film or television with good people and for those people to have good things to report back. And it's not an overnight."

"Whatever you'd say, you were an idiot. The call would be, 'This is the worst craft service we've ever had! There's nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!' You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart," the source told HR.

But not everyone in the industry agrees. Greg Berlanti, who directed "Life as We Know It" said he would be willing to work with Heigl again.

"I would work with her again in a heartbeat. She's an amazing actress, and her in a TV show that's a great idea and well executed would be something I would watch and would feel lucky to work on myself," he said.
