Katie Holmes has been rather quiet since her divorce from Tom Cruise, but the actress and single mother has now seemingly shed her cocoon and stepped back into public life. In a new interview, Holmes talks about her hopes for the future and the possibility of expanding her family.
Holmes recently finished a short-lived run on Broadway in the play "Dead Accounts," and said that she was glad to be back at work and fulfilling her life's goals.
"I was open to – well, to whoever wanted me. But it was always my goal to make it back to the stage. Well, my brother and father are attorneys, and, we'll see [what comes next]. I like the practical thinking of attorneys," Holmes told "Allure" magazine.
Given that two family members are attorneys, rumors have been circulating that Holmes could be giving up the entertainment industry and making a radical life change.
"I don't know. I'm open to it," she said when asked about the possibility of expanding her family. The 34-year-old could be looking to settle down and start a new family with Suri and whomever she deems worthy. Although she has been spotted with a couple of ex-boyfriends, Holmes has not been permanently linked to anyone since the divorce.
As for 2013, Holmes said she hopes it is "a peaceful year for a lot of people." She then went on to cite some of the devastating acts that hit the country hard, specifically Hurricane Sandy and the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.
"I hope it's a good year for everyone," Holmes said.
The issue of "Allure" magazine, which features this interview and more, goes on sale March 26.
