Katie Holmes Topless Photos Stoke Controversy

Actress Katie Holmes has stoked controversy for featuring in revealing advertisements for jeweler H. Stern.

The 33-year-old former "Dawson's Creek" star was photographed late last year in the high-end jewelry while posing on the beach. The ads see Holmes in a bikini top with the straps hanging from her arms.

In each ad, Holmes is looking at the camera while wearing pieces of the luxe jewelry. The ads are reportedly being used promotionally in Israel currently, with critics speaking out against the "seductive" imagery.

H. Stern is not the first company to feature Holmes in fashion advertisements. The actress has posed for Ann Taylor in the past, and has also been covered by the media as a fashion icon for her style in clothing.

The prestigious jewelry company is the U.S. affiliate of H. Stern Com. & Ind. S.A.- a Brazilian company, where the headquarters is located. Its luxury jewelry is known around the world, with over 160 different stores in 12 countries.

In addition to appearing in fashion ads, Holmes has created a fashion line alongside partner Jeanne Yang. The line, named Holmes & Yang, was presented at a trunk show at Barneys New York in Dallas, Tex. last year. The clothing is available at Barneys in Chicago, Berverly Hills, and other select cities.

Holmes shares one daughter, Suri, with actor Tom Cruise.

According to People magazine, Holmes was raised in Ohio as a Roman Catholic. After her relationship with Cruise began, the actress joined the Church of Scientology.

Recently, Holmes appeared on an episode of CBS's "How I Met Your Mother." In the past, the actress has starred in films such as "Batman Begins," "The Ice Storm," and "Abandon."
