Katy Perry and John Mayer were spotted at a post VMA date on Thursday night after the MTV Video Music Awards 2012.

The pair went to the Fifth Annual House of Hype Power Players Event at the Beverly Hills Hotel, according to various reports.

The couple did not arrive on the red carpet together, but were spotted in each other's company later on.

They arrived at the event at about 11 p.m. along with a group of 10 staff members but were sure not to give photographers a chance to snap them together as they arrived - keeping their distance and having their respective entourages between them.

The pair skipped the dinner which was arranged in honor of DJ Kaskade, but instead allegedly went to the ballroom together for the after party - even though it was not due to start there until after the dinner was finished.

A source has told E! News: "It seemed like they didn't want much attention."
