Katy Perry and 'Part of Me' Release Date Announced

Katy Perry has revealed when her 3-D movie "Part of Me" will hit theaters while speaking at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday.

In the film, the "California Gurlz" singer will highlight parts of her California Dreams World Tour that took place over the past year. The film is similar to Justin Bieber's documentary "Never Say Never" which was also produced by Magical Elves Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz.

"My concert documentary is coming out Fourth of July weekend," said Perry divulged on the red carpet Saturday, according to E! News. "Go and see it and be a firework!"

The 27-year-old has seen an action-packed past year. Perry recently split from husband Russell Brand, completed a 124-show tour, and featured her own voice as the star character Smurfette in "The Smurfs in 3-D," all while experiencing an all-time career high.

Perry explained more about "Katy Perry: Part of Me 3-D" in a recent interview with MTV News.

"This film, you're going to see if from my best friend / buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything," said the singer. "Listen, I've [worked on] most of this film for a very long time and the word 'cheap' was not in the vocabulary," Perry continued.

"But hello, it's 3-D.You're going to get hit with a lot of [stuff]," she added.

Acknowledging her busy year, Perry said "that tour was so life-changing for me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way."

The documentary will serve as a tool for Perry's fans to get to know her better according to MTV News.

"I'm not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you'll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper, and at the end of it all I'm the [Wizard of] Oz as well," said the singer.

At Saturday's Kids Choice Awards, Perry earned Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for lending her voice to "The Smurfs."

After the awards ceremony, Perry posted on her Twitter account: "I'm glad I was your Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie! Now… are you READY to go see MY film PART OF ME in 3D JULY 4th WEEKEND?"

While "Katy Perry: Part of Me" is sure to please Perry fans, the film will have competition at the box office this summer. "The Amazing Spiderman" starring Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield also premieres Fourth of July weekend.
