Katy Perry broke the silence on the longstanding rumors that she and Rob Pattinson were more than just friends during a recent interview.
The "Firework" singer even addressed Pattinson's ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart explaining that she was simply "trying to be a friend" to the British actor following last year's cheating scandal involving Stewart and her director Rupert Sanders.
Despite publicly apologizing for her "momentary indiscretion" and for hurting Pattinson, Stewart's relationship with her "Twilight" co-star has appeared to be on the rocks in recent months.
Furthermore, Perry has been repeatedly linked to Pattinson, with scuttlebutt suggesting that their friendship had turned flirtatious of late.
However, Perry cleared the air while speaking to Elle UK magazine this week, clarifying that Stewart had no reason to feel betrayed.
"I sent [Stewart] a text message saying: 'I know you've seen all this stuff but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person,'" explained Perry.
The "Part of Me" singer went on to note the challenges of men and women being friends with one another.
"'I'm trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of t-ts,'" she candidly added.
While she is not romantically involved with Pattinson, Perry's love life has seen its ups and downs in recent months. The singer recently reconciled with John Mayer following an on-and-off relationship that began last summer.
"He pulled away. That was a big hello for me," said Perry, according to Elle UK. "I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues a lot of women have. You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another."
After a painful divorce from Russell Brand, Perry admitted that she is attracted to "challenging" men, but that she is also difficult.
"I'm not interested in taming anyone- I'm pretty wild myself," she added.
