Katy Perry has undergone a complete transformation in Tuesday's episode of "Raising Hope."

The normally colorfully-clad and feminine "California Gurlz" singer guest stars on the FOX television series as "Rikki," a prison guard who shares a past with Sabrina, portrayed by Shannon Woodward.

Perry will appear in the episode entitled "Single White Female Role Model." She explained how the opportunity arose.

"Shannon Woodward is my best friend," said Perry in a statement, according to E! News.

"A couple weeks ago, I was home just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something 'fun' for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show."

Perry, who separated from husband Russell Brand in December, remains very busy with her music career in addition to recently collaborating with EA on The Sims game. There are also rumors that Perry may appear in an upcoming biopic about opera singer Paul Potts.

Perry continued to explain her presence on "Raising Hope."

"I feel like I've done that sexy thing so much so I think it's time to go the opposite: terrifying!" said the 27-year-old of "Rikki" on Tuesday's episode.

On Twitter, "Raising Hope" star Woodward posted a message directed at Perry, asking: "@KatyPerry getting tired of looking pretty in Paris yet?"

"Meh… Yeah, why, what you thinking'?" replied the singer via Twitter, hinting at a transformation on the upcoming episode.

"You will not believe your eyes, watching Raising Hope tonight on FOX @ 8/7c," wrote Perry on her twitter account Tuesday. "I bare all."
