New photographs of a smoldering Katy Perry on the cover of Interview magazine have leaked onto the internet, creating a firestorm of commentary.
The "California Gurlz" singer appears on the cover of the magazine's upcoming March 2012 edition with tousled hair and wearing a bedazzled bra.
Nearly unrecognizable, Perry has shocked fans with the sexy black and white photo with a look inspired by Amy Winehouse. The singer normally dons excessively colorful clothing and hair, causing many of Perry's fans to even question if it was really her.
On Twitter, fans and critics sounded off about the images of Perry.
"Katy Perry shows a VERY different look on new Interview Mag cover," wrote Gossip Cop.
"Whoah, @KatyPerry looks literally NOTHING like her usual self on the cover of Interview magazine," Ok! Magazine posted on their Twitter account.
Twitter user Jermaine commented on Perry's new look, writing, "Spring Fashion: Katy Perry Unzipped: Dope!! Never seen her look like this!"
The issue of Interview magazine hits stands March 1.
While attending the 20th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party Sunday, the 27-year-old singer paid $50,000 for a cooking lesson.
The party at The City of West Hollywood Park in Beverly Hills saw many other celebrities such as Neil Patrick Harris, couples Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, as well as Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. Adam Lambert, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale also attended.
The newly-single singer split from husband Russell Brand, 36, in December. Recent reports have indicated that Perry is saddened by the divorce, and even more heartbroken over rumors of Brand's new girlfriend.
Brand was spotted shopping with a brunette woman Sunday, reported the U.K.'s Daily Mail, which suggests that the duo are a new couple.
After 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for a divorce from Perry and released a statement to The Associated Press.
"Sadly, Katy and I are ending out marriage," said Brand. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
