Keanu Reeves on 'The Matrix' Reboot: 'I Don't Know Anything'
Keanu Reeves, the star of "The Matrix" trilogy that became iconic movies, has no idea that a reboot is in the works. The actor, who played the hacker Neo in the films, assessed that a remake might not be a good idea.
Speaking during the New York Comic Con panel to promote his latest film, "Replica," Reeves categorically stated that he's unaware of plans to revive "The Matrix." Reports revealed last March that Warner Bros. wants to relaunch the sci-fi movie with writer Zak Penn.
"I don't know anything," Reeves simply said and added nothing further to shed light on the reboot plans. "Remaking 'The Matrix,' I don't know..." the "John Wick" star said.

The Wachowski siblings ("Sense8") wrote and directed the original trilogy "The Matrix" (1999), "The Matrix Reloaded" (2003) and "The Matrix Revolutions" (2003). Apart from Reeves, the movies also featured Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith).
Joel Silver produced the trilogy but he had a falling out with the Wachowskis. The rift significantly affected any chances of any other "The Matrix" films for development beyond the trilogy. Silver eventually sold his rights to the movies but Warner Bros. reportedly wants him back on board with Penn for the reboot.
Following Reeves' response, however, Penn confirmed via Twitter that "The Matrix" reboot or revival is nowhere near completion. He expressed that it was not right to put Reeves on the spot.
"Yes, I'm writing something," Penn wrote in a series of tweets. "No casting, director, style can be discussed yet," he further stated. "No need to put actors or anyone on the spot, because there's nothing there yet."
Meanwhile, Reeves, Fishburne and Moss recently had a reunion on "John Wick 2." Reeves and Fishburne worked together again on the assassin movie more than 14 years after doing "The Matrix." Moss, meanwhile, supported her former co-stars when she attended the movie's premiere in the U.K. last February.
