Ke$ha, 25-year-old singer-songwriter is defending herself after her song "Die Young" was pulled from radio stations in light of the recent Newtown, Conn., school massacre that left 20 children and 7 adults dead, in addition to the gunman who killed himself.
"I had my very own issues with 'Die Young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO," the singer tweeted, according to TMZ reports.
Although the message later disappeared from the Twitter feed of the singer who co-wrote the radio hit, a message about the fact that her "Die Young" song may be deemed inappropriate remained on her social networking page.
"I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been affected by this tragedy and I understand why my song is now inappropriate," Ke$ha tweeted. "Words cannot express."
In the song, Ke$ha sings, "We're gonna die young, let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young."
Although TMZ reported that "Die Young" reached number three on radio playlists last Friday with 167 million listeners across the country, the publication drew figures from Mediabase and reported that the song lost 19 million listeners by Monday when stations began to drop the record.

Despite the controversy surrounding the song, various people took to Twitter to support Ke$ha's song "Die Young". One person felt that other forms of entertainment should be reviewed in the same way that the singer's song was.
"If Kesha's song 'Die Young' has to be pulled off the radio because of what happened last week, then every damned rap song and violent movies must go too (sic)," the person tweeted
However, other people felt removing the song from radio stations was a smart decision.
"Radio stations have pulled the song die young by Kesha. I loved that song but I think it's great that they took it off for now #respect," another person tweeted.
