Kerry Washington First Interview Post-Baby: 'I Feel Really, Really Blessed,' 'Scandal' Star Says

Kerry Washington is a very private woman, not wanting to share too much information about her marriage, friendships, or the new baby in her life. But now Washington has spoken out and granted the first interview since the birth of daughter Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha last month.

"I feel really, really blessed," Washington told The Los Angeles Times on June 10. "I just feel really blessed that I'm kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life."

Washington, who plays Olivia Pope on ABC's hit series "Scandal," got engaged and married without the publicity. Even friends and co-stars on "Scandal" refused to give away any information about Washington's private life. Washington married Nnamdi Asomugha and appeared on "Scandal" while pregnant, which was one of Hollywood's worst-kept secrets, while remaining quiet about the whole situation.

"We can't talk about Kerry on the carpet," Bellamy Young, who plays Mellie Grant on the series, told reporters. "I am Switzerland of Kerry."

It's just a sign of the loyalty and importance of privacy that Washington exudes and expects from those around her. Even after the birth of her first child, which was eagerly awaited by fans, Washington did not reveal the name or any information about the baby girl.

"Well … I still won't talk about my personal life on here. But I see your tweets," Washington posted on Twitter. "And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay."

Washington also revealed that she doesn't know just yet where the next season of "Scandal" is headed, and she's not sure where Olivia and Jake's plane will land once the season starts. At the end of the previous season, viewers were stunned to see them leave together and leave Fitz to himself and his own problems as they flew into the sunset.

"Scandal" will pick up again in the fall, which can't come quick enough for fans.
