The Oklahoma City NBA player had a tattoo mishap this week. After posting a picture of his new tattoo on Instagram, the small forward realized that part of the quote he had inked on his back was misspelled.

Durant's newest tattoo covers at least a fourth of his back. It contains a Bible verse found in Jame 1:2-4 which reads:

"Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way."

Except the word "mature" was misspelled, as pointed out by multiple media sites. It read "mautre" instead. People had mixed feelings about the quote in general, but Durant did not immediately notice that the quote contained a misspelled word.

After garnering attention in the press however, the player acknowledge there error and posted a new photo on Instagram. "I got mature spelled the right way lol," he wrote.

Outside of his tattoo fiasco, however, Durant has also been receiving good press. Earlier this week he agreed to donate $1 million to the Red Cross in support of Oklahoma victims affected by the tornado. His good deed had fans impressed.

"Just saw you on ESPN touring the tornado sites and visiting with some of the victims. Brought tears to my eyes. You are a class act and I'm so impressed," one fan wrote on the player's Instagram.

Other tattoos on the player's back include an angel holding a basketball.
