A Chicago woman has been killed by a gun the same day her sister sat behind Obama as he gave a speech about gun control legislation at a Chicago school, according to reports.

An 18-year-old woman, Janay Mcfarlane, was shot in the head on Feb. 15 around 11.30 p.m. in North Chicago, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. Mcfarlane, the mother of a three month old baby, was reportedly visiting friends and family with one of her friends when she was shot.

Two people are being questioned by police in connection with the killing, according to North Chicago police.

The mother of the victim, Angela Blakely, is understandably distraught, saying, "I really feel like somebody cut a part of my heart out."

Blakely has reported that her daughter was not the person the shooter intended to shoot, but that she was accidentally hit and died from the gunshot wound. According to reports the bullet was meant for the friend who Mcfarlane was traveling with at the time.

Just hours before her death, Mcfarlane's 14 year old sister attended an address by President Barack Obama where he gave details on his proposals for tighter gun controls. In his speech Obama paid tribute to another young Chicago girl who was recently killed by a gunshot - 15 year old Hadiya Pendleton.

The shooting in Mcfarlane's case appears to be gang related, and so far two suspects have been charged in relation with the murder.

Blakely has also told reporters how her daughter was greatly saddened by Pendleton's death: "She always said after Hadiya Pendleton got killed, 'Momma that's so sad. She was always touched by any kid that got killed. She was always touched by mothers who couldn't be there for their babies because they were gone."

She added, "I'm just really, truly just trying to process it — knowing that I'm not taking my baby home anymore."

Mcfarlane was scheduled to graduate this spring.
