Kim Kardashian has reported that she won’t be flying to Melbourne to appear in the Swisse vitamins marquee at Flemington, but will instead head home to Los Angeles with sister Khloe.
According to the Herald Sun, the decision was revealed yesterday when she said she “really didn’t want to bail on everyone.”
“I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time,” she said to the publication today.
According to an email reportedly sent out yesterday afternoon the appointment had to be canceled because it would be “too much” for Kardashian.
Kardashian has been facing a storm of media attention after announcing on Monday that she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of just 72 days.
Media reports have said that her contract with Swisse is believed to be worth more than US $150,000 for a one-hour appearance. Swisse’ spokesman expressed disappointment after Kardashian canceling.
“All indications were that Kim wanted to fulfill all of her commitments once she landed in Australia but has obviously changed her mind given her very difficult personal challenges at the moment,” the spokesman said according to the Herald Sun.
Despite being unable to head to Melbourne, Kim and Khloe appeared before several hundred fans at a Sydney department store to promote the Kardashian Kollection handbag range.
Among criticism regarding her quick decision to break her marriage, Kim has received support from some of the teenage girls who lined up outside the store since 10 p.m. (AEDT) yesterday.
“I think she thought he wasn’t the man she thought he was,” said Tessa Wilson, according to AAP. "He was so rude to Khloe and the family."
On Tuesday, however, the star expressed her sorrow about the marriage that lasted only 72 days through a message to her fans on her website.
Kardashian said she “married for love” and “would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show.”
Kardashian and her sister are set to leave Sydney tomorrow heading to Los Angeles.
