Kim Kardashian Stars in Tyler Perry's 'Confessions of a Marriage Counselor' (VIDEO)

Kim Kardashian will appear in Tyler Perry's new film "Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor" which premieres in March. The first trailer recently gave fans a glimpse of the reality TV star's acting skills.

Kardashian, who usually appears as herself in films, plays a character named Ava and although the role is minor it is undoubtedly her most substantial acting gig to date.

The film is said to be "a bold exploration of the intrigue and perils of infidelity," according to Gossipcop.com.

It tells the story of Judith (Jurnee Smolett), a well educated relationship expert who becomes bored in her own marriage and ultimately has an affair with a charming client which she later regrets.

Ava works with Judith for a matchmaker named Janice (Vanessa Williams), and Ava gives Judith a makeover to help build her confidence while she struggles with self-esteem.

Perry, an award-winning movie producer, was criticized in 2011 over his decision to cast Kardashian, 32, in the film. Critics in the African-American community- often the aim and audience of the films- questioned his decision to cast the controversial Armenian-American reality star.

After being bombarded with email complaints from all over the world, Perry finally addressed the matter on his personal website.

"I could not have imagined I'd be getting all these emails about Kim Kardashian...After I finished writing this movie, I sat back and re-read it. I knew that this message was not only for my age group, but for all audiences, especially the youth...I wanted a younger cast," Perry wrote.

"I said to one of my producers, 'who else is out there that young people are looking up to?' One of my producers showed me pictures that his daughter had taken of several hundred kids lined up around the corner to get into a Kardashian store. They wanted to meet Kim," he explained before adding, "I thought, what better person!"
