Kim Kardashian Wedding: Star Files for Divorce - Where Did Her Marriage Go Wrong?

Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce on Halloween, citing "irreconcilable differences" in court documents.

Kardashian released an official statement about the split from her husband of 72 days.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision,” Kardashian said in the statement. “I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Ryan Seacrest broke the news on Halloween morning via twitter.

“Yes Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce this morning,” Seacrest tweeted. “I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few (minutes).”

For weeks leading up to the official divorce announcement, Kardashian and Humphries were making headlines for their failing marriage. One of the issues that tore the couple apart was Humphries reported desire to move to his home, Minnesota, according to TMZ.

However, Kardashian wanted to stick with her Los Angeles roots and was not willing to move to a small town. While TMZ reports that Humphries wanted to save the marriage, Kardashian was allegedly against it.

Kardashian recently stated that her marriage lifestyle had not been “ideal.”

The soon-to-be divorced newlywed said that filming the reality television series “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” caused her to live with sister, Kourtney, and the older Kardashian’s boyfriend, Scott Disick.

The long-distance situation apparently made it difficult to adjust to newlywed life, according to Kim.

"It's not ideal because you're newlyweds and you want privacy," Kim told People magazine.

Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, also admitted that the couple’s relationship was strained due to their different career moves.

Jenner told People that the couple is moving in "two separate directions [with work]."

"Kris is not drinking the Kardashian Kool-Aid, and its causing major problems," said the source to US Weekly.

Another family friend told the publication that their different work ethics were the basis for arguments.

"They had it out!" said the source. "She told him he needs to do something productive.”

Kardashian is reportedly seeking counsel from celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser, who has worked with Britney Spears, Maria Shriver and Angelina Jolie.
