'Kingsman: The Golden Circle': Why a Sept. 29 Launch Is Advantageous

The world of espionage tends to get boring at times, so when "Kingsman: The Secret Service" decided to make fun out of the concept, it immediately amassed a loyal fan base. It is arguably one of the most awaited sequels, and it looks like the waiting time will be shortened a bit.

Exhibitor Relations has tweeted that the second installment "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" has now been bumped up to a Sept. 29 release date, which is a week earlier than the previously scheduled Oct. 6 launch. Although this is only a week adjustment, at least this means it is coming a bit sooner than expected.

While there are no given reasons as to why it had to be moved to an earlier week, Comic Book thinks that this is a wise move. The week of Sept. 29 is wide open, while Oct. 6 pits the film against Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling's "Blade Runner 2049," a rather formidable sequel to one of Ridley Scott's masterpiece.

This was not the first time that the film had to move to steer clear of cutthroat competition. It can be recalled that before it was postponed to October, it first held a June 16 release date, where it would be smack dab in the middle of other huge films such as "Wonder Woman," "The Mummy," "Cars 3," "Transformers: The Last Knight" and "Despicable Me 3."

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" takes Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and the gang into a whole new world of undercover operations. In the upcoming sequel, they are introduced to their U.S. counterpart, The Statesman, who they will have to work together with to thwart an incoming danger.

With one week less from waiting for its launch, it will be great to see more progress on the film. "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is now arriving on Sept. 29, 2017.
