'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' Review: Featuring a Younger and Sweeter James Bond

Given that world-renowned spy James Bond is currently out of commission for an extended duration because of Daniel Craig's doubts, fans looking to watch a good spy film that can possibly contend with the legend have turned their attention to "Kingsman: The Golden Circle." With less than few days before it lands in cinemas, many are interested to know if it is worth the ticket. Fortunately, critics have a few things to say about it.

According to a review by Vanity Fair, Taron Egerton, who plays as Eggsy, may be considered as the saving grace of the film. His take on the film's main protagonist is interestingly humble and his charm is capable of resuscitating some scenes that could have been boring. Meanwhile, director Matthew Vaughn seems to have an obvious affection for the film as he does not shy away from developing the relationship of Eggsy and Galahad (Colin Firth), even emphasizing the sensitive side of the former in a scene where he sheds tears.

Furthermore, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" also succeeds in keeping their audience to the end, despite its many flaws. Mainly lacking in plot development, the film makes up for it by its obviously satirical nature. The Guardian deems "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" a joy to watch for those looking to see the typical spy gadgets and action, but for those who would like some depth in the story, fans might be better off waiting for the next "James Bond" film.

While waiting for Craig to make up his mind over his role, fans might find Egerston as a sweeter, cheekier replacement. "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" also features a lot of high-profile celebrities such as Channing Tatum, Hale Berry, Julianne Moore, and even a cameo from Elton John. Furthermore, critics generally agree that the satire of the plot does well to blend in with the current political climate.

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Sept. 22.
