Kourtney Kardashian revealed Friday that paternity test results proved that her current and longtime boyfriend, Scott Disick, is indeed the father of their oldest child, Mason.
Kardashian had been forced to face a paternity lawsuit filed by Michael Girgenti, who had claimed Mason was his son. She told E! News that she had seen the test as the only option to end what had been an exhausting legal battle.
"After three-and-a-half years of rumors and lies being spread by an individual I met briefly at a photo shoot, I am setting the record straight that Scott is Mason's father. While it saddens me to have to address these ridiculous lies — especially when the truth was never in doubt — this story must be put to rest," said Kardashian.
In the lawsuit, Girgenti had indicated that Kardashian had a brief romantic relationship with him approximately around the time she got pregnant when they worked together on a magazine photo shoot in 2008.
He requested joint custody of Mason, claiming that he looked nothing like Kardashian and Discik's one-year-old daughter, Penelope.
Prior to the paternity test results, Kardashian's attorney, Todd Wilson, explained to E! News that there was no substance to Girgenti's attention-seeking claims.
"We have not seen the reported court filing, but we are informed that this individual has been seeking to get paid to publish his ridiculous pleading," Wilson added. "His claims are absurd and this is simply another shameful attempt to gain publicity and profit from fictional stories about my client."
