Kristen Stewart 'Sorry' for Cheating on Robert Pattinson With Married Man

Kristen Stewart recently apologized for cheating on her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson, following reports that she had an affair with a married director.

The 22-year-old actress was photographed intimately hugging 41-year-old Rupert Sanders, who directed her latest film "Snow White and the Huntsman," which led to speculation that the pair was having an affair.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a public statement released to PerezHilton.com

Sanders is reportedly married to model Liberty Ross, sister of Oscar-winning composer Atticus Ross and the couple have two children, Skyla and Tennyson. Stewart's admission has led to widespread backlash on social networking site Twitter, where fans have blasted the actress as being a homewrecker.

"Always knew Kristen Stewart was a w---- #homewrecker #notshocked," Sarah Selvig tweeted.

"I really thought I couldn't dislike Kristen Stewart more.. then she became a homewrecker. #effyoukstew,"

"Really though, where does Kristen Stewart get off cheating on Robert Pattinson? People hated her to begin with & now she's a homewrecker too," Victoria Laino tweeted.

"Just saying, if Kristen Stewart really did love Rob as much as she says she does, she would have never cheated on him in the first place," Laura tweeted.

Stewart met Pattinson while filming the first "Twilight" movie in 2008 and the pair began dating shortly after.

"Kristen is absolutely devastated. It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgment," the source told People. "She wasn't having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn't have happened."
