Kristen Stewart reportedly wanted to attend the Teen Choice Awards despite her recent split from Robert Pattinson, but the actress reportedly skipped the event simply because he did not want to go.
The "Twilight" stars, who began dating in 2008 after meeting on set, were noticeably absent from the awards show despite "Breaking Dawn Part 2" being nominated for seven major awards. Stewart won two awards for "Choice Actress in a Romance" and for "Choice Actress in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy," while Pattinson won "Choice Actor in a Romance," however neither one of them was present to accept these awards.
"Kristen had no problem whatsoever going to the Teen Choice Awards, but she was only going to go if Rob also went," a friend of Stewart told HollywoodLife.com.
"It was primarily Rob's decision not to go. He has been wanting to distance himself from the Twilight films for quite some time now," the source continued. "Kristen felt kind of hurt that Rob is so eager to move away with anything that has to do with the franchise. In a way, she takes it kind of personally."
Pattinson, 27, reportedly did not feel comfortable attending the awards show due to his recent split from Stewart, 23. While the exes are both said to be moving forward after breaking up, insiders claim their relationship is still "strained."
"Rob and Kristen have a strained relationship," a source said adding Pattinson thought it would be "odd" to reunite with Stewart "in a public setting with their peers."
In addition to Pattinson and Stewart, the entire "Twilight" cast did not attend the TCAs and the film's creator, Stephenie Meyer, recently revealed that they simply want to move on from the series at this time.
"I know they want to move on [from Twilight]," Meyer said about Pattinson and Stewart.
In recent weeks Stewart has been photographed filming her new film "Camp X Ray" while Pattinson has been in Toronto filming "Maps to the Stars."
