Kristin Chenoweth Leaves 'The Good Wife' After Injuries; Actress is 'Getting Better Slowly'

Kristin Chenoweth will not be returning to the set of CBS' "The Good Wife" after injuries took her away last month. She was set to star in the hit series and was filming in New York City when hit on the head by a piece of equipment.

The accident left Chenoweth with injuries that have kept her from working since July 11. She was immediately taken to a local hospital and kept overnight for observation before being released. No one has commented on what injuries Chenoweth actually sustained due to the accident, but Chenoweth has said she is "getting better slowly."

She will appear in the season premiere of "Good Wife" on September 30, but her character will be written out of the rest of the show. It was meant to be a recurring role as a reporter who covers character Peter Florrick's campaign.

Chenoweth has had roles on several series including "Pushing Daisies," "Glee," and "The West Wing." She quickly rose to fame after "Pushing Daisies" and was selected for the role of Galinda/Glinda in the hit Broadway musical "Wicked." Chenoweth played one of the leads on the short-lived series "GCB" and was planning a major move to "The Good Wife" this fall.

CBS's hit series will enter its fourth season in September; the show focuses on the political and personal lives of a disgraced former Illinois state attorney. Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth both star in the series, which has won numerous awards, including a Peabody.

Margulies has won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for her portrayal of Alicia Florrick, a woman determined to rebuild her life after her husband's political scandal.

Chenoweth has not announced what comes next in her career; although it is possible she will simply refrain from the spotlight until fully healed.
