LA Lakers NBA Trade Rumors 2017: The 'Williams Switcheroo' May Be Harming the Team More Than Benefit It

The trade-offs are in full swing as the deadline is quickly looming for basketball teams. But if there a team that needs to think about things before acting the most, that would probably be the Los Angeles Lakers.

One of the newest conflicts in the switcheroos happening in the National Basketball Association (NBA) surrounds Lakers' reserve shooter Lou Williams, who is rumored to be on the verge of being switched with Houston Rockets' Corey Brewer. If it is good news to anyone, that would be to Houston coach Mike D'Antoni, who will have more viable pieces to move around.

With Williams scoring 27.7 points per 36 minutes this season, he is one reserve that can be used when the going gets rough, providing D'Antoni more options. This means he will have more flexibility in managing the team, and how this benefits the Lakers is something that's yet to be seen.

If anything, it looks like new Lakers president, Magic Johnson, is confident about his young roster and even goes as far as labeling them "untouchables." He said, "Our untouchables are our young talent right now ... There's been people that have been calling for [them], but we've said no."

It is unclear if it was his decision to possibly let go of Williams, but how it affects the team is something that's up in the air. If anything, it's going to be something worth seeing.

As to the sudden and unpopular decisions, CBS Sports thinks that it would be best for the Lakers to take things in stride when it comes to these trades. Despite Johnson's popularity in the game, his aptitude in handling a team is something that has not been proven to be effective yet. That will be something to observe in the following days.

With the trades nearly coming to a close, everyone will have to play to their strengths, and the Lakers will have to do it decisively.
