LA Lakers Trade Rumors, News 2014: Eric Bledsoe Trade Unlikely

The trade for Phoenix Suns' point guard Eric Bledsoe might be unlikely to happen as the qualifying offer deadline is already nearing.

Bledsoe might be offereda bigger contract by the Suns which will eventually tether him to the team for the next couple of years while consequently ending any pursuit by the LA Lakers to get him as free agent coming July.

Hoops Rumors' Chuck Myron said that before Oct. 1, Bledsoe will be penning a new contract to make him an unrestricted free agent for Phoenix.

"(The negotiations are) all going through agent Rich Paul. I know LeBron (James) implored the Suns to 'break bread,' but since LeBron is Paul's client, it came off as a PR stunt. I think Phoenix would like to negotiate, and I think they'd come up at least a little from four years and $48MM. I think the Suns and Paul will revisit the issue and strike an 11th hour deal for the long-term, but that's more of a hunch than anything else," Myron said.

The Los Angeles team currently has Kobe Bryant, Nick Young, and Xavier Henry and it seems like the Lakers are still looking for more options at the 3-spot.

If neither Eric Bledsoe nor the already reported Michael Beasley will sign with the LA team, then they might be opting for the expected soon-to-be free agent Alonzo Gee of the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics' point guard Rajon Rondo, Headlines & Global News reported.
