Lana Del Rey Tour Cancelled After SNL

Singer Lana Del Rey has dropped her plans to tour at the end of the year, following her failed appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Lana Del Rey, born Elizabeth Grant, is a 25-year-old New York born singer who released her first solo studio album in 2010. The singer made live appearances at places like MTV Push and New York City's Bowery Room, before announcing she would begin a new tour at the end of the year.

However, in light of Del Rey's recent SNL performance, the singer has had second doubts. "[Lana] and her manager decided to cancel [the tour] after 'SNL,'" a source told the New York Post. She was very upset. But, the source added, "They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from 'SNL.'"

The singer received harsh criticism after her performance. An email leaked by NBC anchor Brian Williams called her act "one of the worst outings in 'SNL' history." Critics had also labeled the singer's newest album "Born to Die" as "dull, dreary, hollow and emotionless."

However despite the harsh criticism, Rey's new album has been recorded as the fastest selling album of the year. Del Rey took to Twitter to thank those who had supported her album's success. "Thank you for making the record #1 in 11 countries. Your sweet words have softened the effect of even the harshest reviews. I adore you," she wrote.

Despite the albums success, the singer and her manager have decided that it is still best to postpone the tour although Del Rey will still perform at a Grammy event honoring Interscope head Jimmy Lovine this week.

"Interscope had nothing to do with booking or postponing a tour. Jimmy [Iovine] is excited and thankful that Lana is performing at a Grammy event in his honor this week," a label rep told the New York Post.
