Last season of 'Downton Abbey' to have exciting moments according to the cast

The last season of "Downton Abbey" will have something shocking happening to Lady Mary. This season will see the staff trying to chart out their future in the face of the impending staff cuts. Violet and Isobel will continue to fight over Royal Yorkshire County Hospital taking over their village hospital. Is Anna going to find happiness with Bates? And most importantly, will Robert and Mary be able to save the estate?

Catherine Steadman, the actress playing Mabel Lane Fox, told Express that series creator Julian Fellowes is going to think of something amazing to end the brilliant run of "Downton Abbey." She said, "I think it will come to a very exciting and fulfilling conclusion. Julian's sort of thought long and hard about it and it's the best possible ending."

The most exciting speculation is about Lady Mary. The Evening Standard posted a comment from Michelle Dockery who plays Lady Mary. According to the media outlet, "whatever happens to her, it's going to be different" from the happenings of the previous years.

Apparently, Dockery told Harper's Bazaar, "How Mary is and what happens is quite shocking. There are always twists and turns in the plot - there are every year - but this year particularly, there's a bit of a U-turn that happens with Mary, and it's amazing."

What happens to the village hospital is the bone of contention between Violet and Isobel. Violet wants control of her own hospital but Isobel wants the Royal Yorkshire County Hospital to take over so that they can get the money and modern amenities to run the hospital better. This debate will last the entire season.

Downton Abbey is the last of the grand estates with a huge staff. The staff knows this and winds of change are coming. They will have to face a future now without Downton Abbey because of downsizing. But can Robert and Mary save the day for them?

All these situations will lead to a dramatic season that will hopefully end on a bright note, but not before the favorite characters go through trials and tribulations.

"Downton Abbey" Season 6 is set to premiere in the United States on Sunday, January 3, 2016. The show is already airing in the UK though since its premiere there last September 20.
